The Paths We Choose - A novel in many parts

A story i'm writing based off of pirates.

The Caribbean is torn into pieces. The navy and EITC tries to destroy pirates, while pirates wage the same war on them. Meanwhile, Jolly Roger takes the dead men and turns them into his soldiers, ready to take over the entire Caribbean. But, there is hope. A navy Captain and his War Frigate stand ready. They are the best of the best. They will fight, some will die, but their sacrifice will be worth the blood. They fight neither navy nor pirate, but keep an uneasy peace between them, and wage a war on the undead monstrosity known as Jolly Roger. These are the tales of H.M.S. Valkyrie.

The blackened cannon belched noxious fumes and deadly ammo. They were loaded with a special type, a blue ball that when impacted on a surface caused a small burst of heat similar to lightning. Captain William Leyland looked out at the horrid skeleton ship. "Hard to believe that was once one of ours, eh Lieutenant." The first officer nodded at him and continued to survey the ship. The helmsman was incredible; he had once navigated a ship through a hurricane with not a soul lost, or a bit of damage. He had to be for this, or else we'd be dead quick and in a hurry, thought the Captain. They sunk the ship, launched grapeshot into the water to rip apart the skeletons, then sent divers down to collect anything worthwhile.
